We compare the difference between Sentinel vs Interceptor. Both products are made made Novartis Animal Health and have very similar looking packets. But the main difference between Sentinel and Interceptor, is that Sentinel treats for fleas long-term and controls flea allergy dermatitis. Sentinel will not kill adult fleas, but it will control flea infestations. Interceptor does not treat for fleas of any sort.

What Interceptor and Sentinel have in common is they are both a monthly chewable tablet. They prevent heartworm infection in dogs. They control adult roundworm, immature roundworm, adult whipworm, adult hookworm and adult tapeworm in dogs. Sentinel Spectrum contains lufenuron to treat for fleas and milbemycin oxime & praziquantel to treat for worms. Interceptor Spectrum uses milbemycin oxime & praziquantel to treat for worms. You should have your dog tested for heartworm disease before using either of these products.

Sentinel Spectrum and Interceptor Spectrum both come in the form of chewable tablets that should be given with a full meal of food. Interceptor can be given to puppies from 2 weeks of age and Sentinel can be given to puppies from 6 weeks of age. Overall in this product comparison Sentinel will treat for fleas, heartworm and intestinal worms and Interceptor will treat for just heartworm and intestinal worms.
