Advocate works for 1 month at a time. That means that each tube will last 1 month, if you purchase a 6 pack the 6 tubes will last for 6 months. You must apply Advocate each month to be most effective. It is best if you can mark on a calender when your dog will be due next so you can treat him at the correct time. If you notice fleas on your dog before the month is up, you can re-treat earlier, then the next treatment will be a month from then.

You should not wash, bathe or let your dog swim 24 hours before and 24 hours after applying Advocate. For the rest of the month it is water resistant.

It will start killing adult fleas and larval fleas within 20 minutes and stops fleas feeding within 5 minutes. It will take about 24 hours before Advocate is in full effect.

You should use Advocate once a month on your dog. If you find that it is not lasting the full month repeating fortnightly is also fine. If you are using it for the heartworm treatment we highly recommend using it every month.

Advocate treats for Adult Fleas, Flea Eggs, Flea Larvae, Ear Mites, Heartworms, Whipworm, Hookworms and Roundworms. Please note that Advocate does not treat for Tapeworm, you will need a seperate wormer such as Drontal to treat for Tapeworm).

Yes, in the United States it is called Advantage Multi for dogs. In Australia it is labelled Advocate for dogs. Both products are the same, you will just notice a difference in the look of the packaging. The weight ranges and sizes are otherwise the same.

It works very well in preventing your dog from getting heartworm. Advocate only works in the way of stopping your dog from picking up heartworm and will not get rid of it if your dog already has it. Dogs get heartworm from mosquitoes which carry and transmit the heartworm larvae, so treating your dog whenever mosquitoes are present or even better all year round will be your best chance in protecting your dog from picking up heartworm. If you are changing to Advocate from another heartworm product, you need to make sure the first treatment of Advocate is given within one month of the last dose of the previous product.

This can be for a number of reasons, the main reasons would be if you have a really bad flea problem Advocate will not be working as strong at the end of the month as it does at the start, so although it is still working some what it is not enough to stop the large infestation of fleas. If this is the case you will want to re-apply Advocate every 2 weeks while fleas are bad. Another reason is that it takes up to a year to stop the flea cycle in your house. This means that treating your dog with Advocate the full year instead of just the warmer months when fleas are worse will make it more effective when flea season is on. Most people dont have an extreme case of fleas and wont have to worry about it lasting less than a month.
